Aamer Jamal Achieves Record-Breaking Highest Score for No. 9 Pakistan Batter in Australia During AUS vs PAK Clash

During the third match in Sydney on Wednesday, Aamer Jamal set a new record for the highest score by a Pakistan batter at No. 9 in Tests in Australia.

With his side reeling at seven for 220 when he came into bat, Jamal scored 82 runs in 97 deliveries to help Pakistan post a fighting 313-run first-innings total. On his way to his first Test half-century, he hit nine fours and four sixes. Wasim Bari’s previous best of 72 runs off 113 deliveries in Adelaide in 1972 was surpassed by Jamal.

Overall, Jamal’s innings was the third-highest in Tests by a Pakistan No. 9 batter. The record is held by Asif Iqbal, who scored a century (146 of 244) against England at The Oval in 1967.

Jamal contributed to an 86-run partnership for the 10th wicket with Mir Hamza, who remained unbeaten on seven off 43 balls, which was the second-highest by a Pakistan pair in Australia.
