Cricket in the US: ICC confirms three American citiesto host men’s T20 World Cup 2024

The USA-leg of the ICC Men’s World Cup 2024 will take place at New York, Dallas, and Florida, according to confirmation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday. The three stadiums hosting the matches in the US are Eisenhower Park (New York), Grand Prairie (Dallas), and Broward County (Florida). The USA and the West Indies will co-host the tournament, which will be contested there for the first time. The USA will host the event in 2021, according to the ICC. The governing body’s Chief Executive, Geoff Allardice, stated that these sites were chosen after a thorough vetting procedure.

“We explored a number of potential venue options in the country, and we were hugely encouraged by the enthusiasm the event generated amongst prospective hosts,” said Allardice in an ICC release.

Allardice said the existing venues at Florida and Dallas will be expanded to accommodate more fans, media and premium hospitality areas using the modular stadium solutions.

He stated that a 34,000-seat modular stadium in Nassau County, New York, will be constructed using the same technology, and he planned to obtain the necessary authorization from local authorities by the end of next month.

“The chance to deploy modular stadium technology excites us much. This technology is frequently used in other major sports around the world and has been employed at prior ICC championships to improve venue capacity.

“In the USA, it will give us the opportunity to increase the size of the venues in both Dallas and Florida and create what is going to be a stunning venue in New York,” stated Allardice.

Other locations across the country, like George Mason University in Washington, which serves as the new home of MLC team Washington Freedom, have also been mentioned as potential sites for pre-event games and training.

The ICC’s announcement has also allayed any worries about the USA hosting the T20 World Cup in 2024 because to concerns about the venues’ readiness.
