Asian championship Trophy

India dominated Pakistan 4-0, with the help of two goals from penalty corners from captain Harmanpreet Singh, maintaining their perfect record in the Asian Champions Trophy hockey competition.

India played with assurance and thoroughly dominated the match while Pakistan was always playing catch-up because they had already secured their semifinal position prior to the game.

Just before the end of the first quarter, Harmanpreet gave India the lead by converting the team’s first penalty corner with a strong low flick to the left of Pakistan goalkeeper Akmal Hussain.

In the 23rd minute, India earned their second penalty corner, and Harmanpreet scored with a brilliant drag-flick in between Akmal’s legs for Pakistan.

In the 30th minute, India kept up the pressure on Pakistan’s defense with relentless attempts, earning back-to-back penalty corners, but Harmanpreet missed both of them.

The Indians, nevertheless, requested a video review at the second opportunity, saying that the Pakistani player’s foot stopped the ball from going into the goal. The video referee, however, denied the home team’s request.

At the break, India was up 2-0 on Pakistan.

India earned their third penalty corner six minutes into the third period, and this time Jugraj Singh converted it perfectly to give the home team a comfortable 3-0 lead.

In the 43rd minute, Pakistan obtained their second rare penalty corner but squandered the chance.

When Akashdeep Singh deflected Mandeep Singh’s goal in the 55th minute, India increased their lead to 4-0.
