MP’s club gets a gym upgrade thanks to BCCI

The Indian Cricket Board has contributed to lawmakers’ physical fitness. The Constitution Club of India (CCI) in the nation’s capital has received a donation of Rs 2.25 crore from the wealthiest athletic organization in the nation for gym equipment.

The BCCI released the minutes of its December 21, 2022 apex council meeting this week, at which the CCI request was granted. Rajeev Shukla, a Congress MP and vice-president of the BCCI who also serves as the secretary of sports for the CCI, was present at the meeting.

Shukla was unavailable for comment, but a BCCI representative said that the board has previously given financial support to CCI.

“Earlier as well, CCI requested money, and BCCI granted it. The official stated that the request at the time was for infrastructure enhancement.

According to the meeting minutes, BCCI secretary Jay Shah informed the members that CCI had asked for money to purchase gym equipment.

“Based on the discussions regarding the price and accessibility of the papers, a final quote was presented to BCCI with a final cost of Rs 2.27 crores… It is advised that a one-time donation of Rs 2.25 crores be made to CCI specifically for the purpose of purchasing gym equipment. The members noted the information and agreed to provide the CCI directly a lump sum donation of Rs 2.25 crores, according to the meeting minutes.
