Zim Afro T10: Cape Town Samp Army Beat Joburg Buffaloes To Remain On Top

Cape Town Samp Army

The Zim Afro T20 cricket tournament’s leaders, the Cape Town Samp Army, put up a commanding performance at the Harare Sports Club, further solidifying their lead in the points standings. They bowled wonderfully and then batted brilliantly to defeat the Joburg Buffaloes by 7 wickets with 14 balls to spare.

The Joburg Buffaloes, who were batting first in the second game of the day, got off to a shaky start, losing Will Smeed after the first delivery for a duck. After that, Milton Shumba (14) and Tom Banton put up a 20-run stand until the latter was dismissed on Sunday night by Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

The next player to leave the field was Banton, who had scored fifty in the last game, and was out for six. The Buffaloes were already in danger at this point, and Yusuf Pathan had contributed 15 more to the problem. The Buffaloes needed the partnership of Mushfiqur Rahim (16*) and Mohammad Hafeez (23) to boost the ante because they had not been able to get much going in the innings up until that point.

After that, they put together a 42-run partnership, and Noor Ahmad added seven more runs before the game was over. The Buffaloes finished with a score of 96/5 in 10 overs after struggling to gain any momentum.

The Samp Army responded by starting off well with Tadiwanashe Marumani looking excellent at his end and having strong assistance from Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Under the lights, the openers made batting appear to be extremely simple, with the young Zimbabwean doing the majority of the work.

Even the highly skilled Mohammad Hafeez, who has been deadly so far in the competition, was unable to stop the Samp Army because the batters had such superb control of the situation. The Samp Army had amassed 50 runs at the end of the fourth over without losing a wicket, and they headed in the direction of a large victory.
