I Wasn’t Part of Chelsea’s Plans Mason Mount of Manchester United claims

Mason Mount, a new midfielder for Manchester United, believes he left Chelsea because he learned several months ago that the team had other intentions for him. On Wednesday, Mount agreed to a five-year deal with United for an original reported sum of £55 million ($70 million). An deadlock in contract negotiations at Stamford Bridge is thought to have precipitated the England international’s departure to Old Trafford. However, Mount claimed that his suspicion that Chelsea would be willing to make long-term plans without him led to his decision to join the Red Devils.

According to Mount, it became apparent some months ago that he wasn’t going to be a part of Chelsea’s future plans. Once he learned that United were involved, Mount said, “my decision was made.”

It’s a huge club where many legendary players have competed, and I wanted to be a part of that from the start. One of my key goals was to arrive early so that preseason could begin.

Mount spent 18 years with Chelsea, where he helped the team win the Champions League in 2021. However, last season, as the Blues struggled through a difficult campaign, Mount’s form dipped.

He should be a valuable element of Erik Ten Hag’s team because to his excellent work ethic, propensity for scoring big goals, and ability to provide essential assists.

“I’ve always seen myself as a midfielder, a number eight that can obviously get forward and attack, try to score goals, create goals, but also be able to do the other side as well and defend and help the team when we’re under pressure,” the player added.

The United number seven jersey made famous by Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo, George Best, and David Beckham will be worn by Mount.

In an effort to emulate those legends, the 24-year-old admitted he had to cut short a trip to Disneyland with his family in order to make sure the United transfer was completed.

“We took a quick trip to Disneyland, primarily for the niece. Of course, I enjoyed it as well!” he exclaimed.

“We returned a little early so that we could travel here, drive here, and check out the trip in general. However, it was really worthwhile, and it feels amazing to be up here right now.

“Coming here, seeing everyone, seeing everyone at the training ground, such a great welcome. It’s been an amazing couple of days. Already, I feel very much at home.
