Shahrukh Khan and Sam Curran Punjab Kings Highest Partnership For The 6th Wicket In IPL History

Sam Curran and Shahrukh Khan, two batsmen for the Punjab Kings, established the highest sixth-wicket partnership for their team in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday. at the IPL 2023 encounter between their team and the Rajasthan Royals at Dharamshala. Curran-Shahrukh accomplished this feat. In just 37 balls, the pair put together an unbroken 73-run stand for the sixth wicket. They outperformed Harpreet Brar and KL Rahul, who put together a 61-run partnership for PBKS against RCB in 2021. In August 2019, KL Rahul and Prabhsimran Singh shared a 53-run sixth-wicket partnership against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Last but not least, against RCB in 2022, Shahrukh and Odean Smith shared an unbroken 52-run sixth wicket stand.

Following RR’s decision to bat first, Punjab Kings amassed a total of 187/5 in their 20 overs. At first, they had trouble with RR bowlers, losing four of them for just 50 runs in 6.3 overs. Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma then put together a 64-run stand for the fifth wicket to reintroduce PBKS into the contest (Jitesh scored 44 in 28 balls with three fours and three sixes).

The run rate was then increased in the last overs by Curran (49* in 31 balls, with four boundaries and two sixes) and Shahrukh Khan (41* in 23 balls, with four boundaries and two sixes), bringing PBKS to a respectable total. In the last two overs, they ran up 46 runs.

For RR, Navdeep Saini (3/40) was the bowler of choice. Each of Trent Boult and Adam Zampa claimed a wicket.

Jos Buttler, who was leading the chase of 188, was lost early for his fifth duck of the year by RR. Devdutt Padikkal (51 in 30 balls, with four boundaries and three sixes) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (50 in 36 balls, with eight fours) then put up a 73-run stand for the second wicket to aid RR’s comeback. Later, cameos from Shimron Hetmyer (46 in 28 balls, 4 boundaries, 3 sixes), Riyan Parag (20 in 12 balls, 1 four, 2 sixes), and Dhruv Jurel (10* in 4 balls) enabled RR to secure a last-over thriller victory by 4 wickets.

For PBKS, Kagiso Rabada (2/40) was the bowler of choice. Each Arshdeep Singh, Nathan Ellis, Deepak Chahar, and Sam Curran took a wicket.

For his fifty, Padikkal received the “Player of the Match” award.

With seven victories and seven losses after this, RR is in fifth place overall in the points standings. They have 14 points overall. If Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) both lose their last games versus Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, respectively. They will still be able to move up to the top four slots.

The IPL 2023 campaign for PBKS is over. With six victories and eight losses, they come in at seventh place. They have 12 points overall.
