Due to a hamstring injury, Washington Sundar will not play in the IPL in 2023

Washington-Sundar

Washington Sundar, an all-around player, will not participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 because of a hamstring injury, his team Sunrisers Hyderabad said on Thursday. Sundar has been a pillar of the Sunrisers team for the entirety of the season, but he won’t be able to participate in the remaining games. The team has not yet announced a successor for the all-around spin bowler. Washington Sundar’s hamstring issue has forced him to withdraw from the IPL in 2023. Wishing Washi a quick recovery, the Sunrisers tweeted.

The all-rounder is a crucial member of the SRH team, even though he hasn’t been at his best this season. Sudar has three wickets under his belt in seven matches at an average of 48.66 and an economy of 8.26 before being ruled out of the 16th season of the league with 60 runs scored at an average of 15. In the IPL 2022 auction, Sundar was purchased by the Sunrisers for Rs. 8.25 crore.

The Tamil Nadu player suffered split webbing in his bowling hand during the previous IPL, which was another injury he had had.

The Sunrisers’ chances of making the playoffs this season have been severely damaged by Sundar’s absence. The Aiden Markram-led team hasn’t been able to match some of the other teams’ on-field performances, languishing at the bottom of the standings with just two victories in their last five games. Their next league matchup is against Delhi Capitals.

In the current 10-team standings, SRH is mired in ninth place with two victories and five defeats from their first seven games. They still haven’t named Sundar’s replacement.
