The Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday by a score of 7 runs to earn their second victory in IPL 2023. DC chose to bat first and scored a meager 144/9 in 20 overs. Later, despite Mayank Agarwal and Heinrich Klaasen batting 49 and 31 runs, respectively, SRH was held to a score of 137/6. Axar Patel was the standout player for DC as he not only scored 34 runs with the bat but also amassed bowling statistics of 2/21. In addition to winning Player of the Match, the all-around player has won a lot of accolades from people across the globe.
Sunil Gavaskar, a former captain of India, praised Axar and supported him in his bid to succeed David Warner as captain of DC.

He can help the Indian squad if he wins the franchise captaincy and leads by example. All of these things need to be done over time.
Regarding the game, Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered their third straight defeat in the IPL on Monday as Delhi Capitals defeated them by seven runs, despite Washington Sundar’s valiant efforts on all fronts.
After David Warner decided to bat, the all-rounder Sundar (4-0-28-3) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4-0-11-2) exposed the Delhi Capitals’ batting weaknesses in the first half of the match to limit them to 144/9.
However, an odd batting strategy in which SRH never attempted to dominate resulted in their collapse as they were held to a score of 137/6.
The Sunrisers are now ranked ninth in the standings after the loss, with just two victories in their previous seven games. The Delhi Capitals were still at the bottom of the league rankings despite winning the game.
Halfway through the league stage of the season, SRH and DC both need to pull together a run of victories if they want to stay in the playoff hunt.
