IPL 2023: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are both on the elite list with two other players

Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, has the potential to become just the fourth player in IPL history to score 6,000 or more runs if he plays against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday. With 5,966 runs in 230 games, the 35-year-old is only 34 runs away from reaching the milestone. He has scored the fourth-most runs in IPL history. In the lucrative league, only Warner (6109), Dhawan (6477), and Kohli (6838) have surpassed the 6,000-point threshold.

The difficulty for the MI captain will be to develop consistency, especially because the other senior, Suryakumar Yadav, is going through a rough stretch. Rohit Sharma scored the game-winning 65 against the Delhi Capitals.

Despite winning the previous game, the most successful IPL club, Mumbai Indians, will be under more strain at the Wankhede Stadium, as they have yet to realize their full potential in IPL 2023.

KKR have had their share of highs and lows, finishing fourth on the points table with a strong net run rate (0.711), as opposed to the Mumbai Indians, who are ninth with two points and an NRR of -0.879.

MI will rely on their young guns Tim David, Cameron Green, Tilak Varma, and Ishan Kishan to deliver, given that KKR showed incredible fight right to the end to pull off a stunning win against the Gujarat Titans and fought until the final ball against SRH.

Rinku Singh will be MI’s most dangerous batting threat, having scored an unbeaten 48 and 58 in his last two innings batting at No. 7.
