After Hardik Pandya withdrew due to sickness, Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan will captain the Gujarat Titans in their match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Rashid chose to bat first after winning the toss for GT. The defending champions have gotten off to a great start in IPL 2023, having defeated Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings in both of their opening games.
Rashid claimed Pandya is ill and won’t play in the game after winning the toss, adding that all-rounder Vijay Shankar would replace Pandya.
“Hardik is only somewhat ill; we don’t want to take any chances with him. We will endeavor to play solid cricket as a team. We hope to bat effectively and score some runs. Vijay Shankar will replace Hardik with just one adjustment, Rashid added.
Following a recent victory away in New Delhi, GT returned home to face KKR at the Narendra Modi Stadium. As evidenced by their victory over CSK to start the IPL 2023, GT are difficult to defeat at home.
