IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals chairman Parth Jindal questionsDC’s motivations following the season’s horrifying start

After the Delhi Capitals (DC) lost their third game in a row in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Friday, co-owner Parth Jindal sharply criticized the David Warner-led team in a tweet. Notably, the Delhi Capitals have had a nightmare start to the new season after losing three straight games. David Warner’s team is finding it difficult to keep up with the other teams in the league.

Losses to the Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, and Lucknow Super Giants ruthlessly revealed Delhi’s batting unit’s incapacity. Under the veteran Australian opener Warner’s leadership, the Delhi Capitals have not yet claimed a victory in the opening round of the richest T20 event in the globe. When Warner and company’s head coach Ricky Ponting was unable to “put a finger” on what was really bothering them this season, DC co-owner Jindal gave his thoughts on the Delhi-based team’s terrible start, doubting the motivation of his team’s batters.

“Three games, three losses – really difficult to see this @DelhiCapitals. Not enough intent with the bat and execution lacking in some areas in the field. We have faith in this squad. Let’s regroup and start fresh from Tuesday. I trust in this team. Delhi, hurry up!” he exclaimed on social media.

Jindal’s post follows criticism of DC captain Warner for his lethargic performance against Rajasthan Royals from renowned Indian opener Virender Sehwag and former all-rounder Rohan Gavaskar. DC captain Warner defeated RR in Guwahati by scoring 65 runs off of 55 balls. Delhi Capitals lost by 57 runs after being challenged to chase down a huge 200-run total in 20 overs against the reigning champions. They only managed to score 142-9.

Trent Boult bowled exceptionally effectively in the powerplay and deserves all the credit for that. After the game, Warner stated, “Coming out here and trying to chase 200 with early wickets in the powerplay was always going to be a task.
