How Virat Kohli Taught A “MS Dhoni Fan” A Life LessonWhen Asked To Score A Century In The Next Game

Many people consider Virat Kohli, the star Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) hitter, to be the best batter of his generation. After helping India win the U-19 World Cup in 2008, Kohli gained notoriety. He made his India debut in 2009, and the rest is history. Kohli recently discussed a humorous encounter he had with a fan in 2014 while traveling from Delhi to Kochi with the Indian squad on the RCB podcast. The fan had requested that Kohli strike a century in the upcoming match, Kohli recalled.

“This event occurred in or around 2014, a time when I wasn’t scoring many runs and was getting out easily in a few one-day internationals. The team was given seats in the front rows of our flight from Kochi to Delhi. A man from Chennai who was a tremendous follower of MS Dhoni entered the room. So as soon as I stood up from my seat, that person approached me and said, “Kohli, what’s up? I expect a hundred from you in the next game,” Kohli remembered.

Since he was a young player at the time, Kohli said, he had a shrewd but sensible response.

“The switch was flipped in me when I was little. I proposed having a discussion. I inquired about his employer and his position before telling him that he should be promoted to chairman within the following three months. I tried to explain to him that even though I was working so hard, it wasn’t a video game when he asked how that was possible, he continued.

In his final remarks, Kohli said that the fan even attempted to advise MS Dhoni on how to lead the team and that everyone, including the fan, laughed when the players referred to him as their “coach.”

He met MS and appeared to be thrilled. But after that, he just began discussing team composition and captaincy while offering advice. Dhoni listened well and had good patience. While he was still trying to coach everyone, the entire team began chanting, “Coach! Coach!” At that point, he shrugged it off and returned to his seat. He added, “It was a funny moment.
