IPL 2023: Sandeep Sharma steps in for an injured Prasidh Krishna for the Rajasthan Royals

Prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, Sandeep Sharma was acquired by Rajasthan Royals as a replacement for the injured Prasidh Krishna. After having surgery for a back issue, Krishna is currently undergoing rehabilitation. According to an official release, “Rajasthan Royals would like to confirm that their 26-year-old pacer Prasidh Krishna will miss the 2023 IPL season due to a stress fracture surgery, and the rehabilitation process that will follow.” Prasidh has a lumbar stress fracture, and doctors have advised surgery, which will prolong his recovery period and delay his return to competitive cricket. Prasidh’s recuperation is being supported and helped in any way we can.

In 10 IPL seasons, Sandeep Sharma has taken more than 100 wickets, and in 2022, he played for the Punjab Kings. He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past. The pacer will give the RR bowling lineup, which also includes Trent Boult and Navdeep Saini, a fresh direction.

In other news, the Punjab Kings have chosen to replace Jonny Bairstow by signing Australian all-rounder Matthew Short. Short, who will play his first season in the league, was given the opportunity when Bairstow was forced to withdraw from the IPL 2023 due to his inability to recuperate from an injury.

The Australian cricketer, who opened for Adelaide Strikers and took 11 wickets, was named Player of the Tournament in the most recent Big Bash League.
