Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty of India won the men’s doubles competition in Swiss Open Super Series 300 2023 on Sunday by defeating Tang Qian and Ren Yu Xiang of China 21-19 and 24-22. The bronze medalists from the 2022 World Championships, Satwik and Chirag, engaged the Chinese pair in a hard-fought contest. The world No. 21 pair was defeated by the second-seeded Indian couple, who won the bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships. The victory took place after 54 minutes.

It was India’s first championship of the year, and Satwik and Chirag were able to forget their disappointing second-round elimination from the All England Championships last week.

Overall, the Indian duo won their fifth world tour championship. They had previously won the India Open and French Open last year, as well as the Thailand Open in 2019 and the Hyerabad Open in 2018.

Gold medals from the 2022 Commonwealth Games went to Satwik and Chirag as well.

After defeating the Malaysian team of Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi, the top men’s doubles badminton team from India previously reached the tournament’s final. In a fiercely fought semifinal match, the world number six Indian doubles team overcame the world number eight team by scores of 21-19, 17-21, and 21-17.
