The ICC Rankings for Test bowlers now place India’s seasoned spinner Ravichandran Ashwin above England pacer James Anderson. With 869 rating points, Ashwin leads the competition after taking 25 wickets overall in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Anderson is in second place, 10 rating points back. Virat Kohli, a former captain of India, has made significant advancements in the Test rankings for batsmen, moving up a total of seven spots to take the 13th position.

While Ashwin has been an ever-consistent player for India in the whites, Kohli snapped his 1205-day drought without a Test ton to notch the triple-digit total in the drawn Ahmedabad Test against Australia. He racked up an impressive 186 runs in the first innings but fell short of the coveted double-hundred.

The only Indian batsmen now ranked ahead of Kohli are teammates Rishabh Pant (ninth) and Rohit Sharma (tenth) in the Test batter rankings.

The main players for India in the series were Ashwin and Jadeja, with the former claiming 25 wickets and the latter 22, respectively. But for whatever reason, Jadeja fell from eighth to ninth place in the list of Test bowlers.

The most recent rankings update included promotions for Australian cricketers as well. Usman Khawaja, the opening batsman, moved up two spots to take over seventh place among Test batters after scoring a series-high 333 runs. All-rounder Cameron Green, who only played in the test against India in Ahmedabad, advanced 11 spots overall to take 26th place.
