The ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award shortlist for February 2023 includes West Indies left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie, England batter Harry Brook, and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja of India.

Jadeja has made the shortlist for the first time after spurring India’s resounding series victory over Australia in the World Test Championship match.

Brook is still excelling in Test cricket, and after winning the accolade in December, his recent sequence of spectacular scores for England in New Zealand gets him another nomination.

The West Indies’ spinner Motie returned astounding stats in a record-breaking bowling performance during their away Test series in Zimbabwe, placing him in line for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award.

The long-awaited series in India between the top two teams in the ICC World Test Championship took place in February, and the top-ranked all-rounder Jadeja was eager to show off his skills as the home team quickly established a 2-0 series lead.

During the month, Jadeja used the favorable conditions to get 17 Australian wickets, including a fantastic seven for 42 in the second Test in Delhi. His 70-run first-test innings, which was as outstanding with the bat in the hopes of getting India into the World Test Championship Final at the Oval in June, laid the stage for India’s early victory.

Due to his efforts, Jadeja was named Player of the Match in both contests.

English batsman Brook, who only played his first Test in September of last year, is quickly becoming one of England’s most dangerous players in the format. Since taking home the ICC Men’s Player of the Month honor in December, he hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down.

In New Zealand in February, he put on another another electrifying performance. His spectacular 186 in the second Test at Wellington, which comprised 24 fours and five sixes, was only one of his 329 runs over the course of two Tests, underscoring the threat he poses to England’s rising Test team.

Left-arm spinner Motie, who had played in just one Test prior to the start of February, impressed as the West Indies won the series 1-0 in Zimbabwe last month. Motie recorded historic statistics of 13-99 in their triumphant second Test in Bulawayo, taking 19 wickets overall in the two-Test series, the biggest match total by a West Indies spinner in Test history.

With those numbers, he was named Player of the Series and received his first nomination for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, where he has a chance to become the first West Indian victor ever.
