Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain will lead India’s challenge in the women’s world boxing championship

Lovlina Borgohain, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, and Nikhat Zareen, the current world champion, will lead India’s effort at the 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi. The competition will take place at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex from March 15 to March 26. Borgohain (75 kg), who won the bronze medal in Tokyo, has already won bronze at two world championships. He will join other Olympic medalists from various nations in the quest for victory.

In contrast, Zareen will defend her championship in the 50 kg division. At the Istanbul-based 2022 IBA Women’s World Championships, she won the title of world champion.

Nitu Ghanghas, a gold medalist from the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, will also compete in the 48 kg division. The two-time Young World champion will attempt to add one more significant medal to her collection.

“With this excellent team competing in the IBA Women’s World Championships, India intends to further solidify its position as a boxing superpower, which has emerged in recent years. It’s a lineup of champions, and I have no doubt that they will restore the nation’s glory “said Ajay Singh, head of the Indian Boxing Federation (BFI).

Manisha Moun will compete for her nation in the fiercely competitive 57kg featherweight division after making her presence known on the international stage with outstanding achievements at the 2018 World Championships in Delhi.
