Sydney Thunder's powerplay dismissal for 15 is the lowest score in men's T20 cricket history.

The Adelaide Strikers defeated Sydney Thunder with a score of 15 after 35 deliveries, the lowest total ever in professional T20 cricket, in one of those “that really happened” moments.

The 2015 match between the Melbourne Renegades and the Stars produced the lowest Big Bash total ever, which was 57. The Thunder’s 15 is also the lowest professional cricket score since 1983 and is tied for seventh-lowest all-time. In professional T20 cricket, Turkey’s score of 21 against the Czech Republic was the previous lowest total.

While attempting to score 140 runs, five Sydney Thunder batters failed to do so, while three others were dismissed for just one run, with number 10 Brendan Doggett (4) scoring the most in an unprecedented collapse.

Henry Thornton was the best bowler for Adelaide Strikers, taking up five wickets in 2.5 overs while only allowing three runs to be scored. As Strikers secured a 124-run victory inside the powerplay, Wes Agar claimed four wickets in his two overs, and Matthew Short also contributed to the wicket total.

Thornton said after being given the player of the match award, “Have no idea what’s going on, it’s wonderful. Considering what the wicket was doing, we thought their bowling was really, really well, but we persisted long enough. Never seen anything like this before; truly remarkable stuff.
