Babar Azam, who scored more than 3000 T20I runs against England, joined Virat Kohli as the joint-fastest players to reach the milestone. Babar Azam is only the fifth player to do so.

Although Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, had a disappointing Asia Cup, he has recovered in the seven-match T20I series against England. The 27-year-old tied Indian batting legend Virat Kohli on Friday by becoming the joint-fastest player to 3000 runs in T20Is. In 81 innings, both players achieved the milestone. He also passed Paul Stirling of Ireland to go up to fourth place in the format’s run scorers. Only Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Martin Guptill of New Zealand are ahead of him.

At the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday, Babar Azam scored an incredible 87 runs, helping Pakistan to a total of 169/6. The skipper put on a one-man performance without his usual opening partner, Mohammad Rizwan; Iftikhar Ahmed’s 31 was the next-highest score.

Babar added a century to his earlier in the series with an unbeaten 59-ball 87.

His valor was insufficient, though, as England put on a punishing hitting exhibition to reach the goal in just 14.3 overs.

They got off to a fast start thanks to openers Phil Salt and Alex Hales, but Hales later fell for 27 off 12.

However, Salt persisted in his onslaught on the Pakistani bowlers, with assistance from the other end from Dawid Malan and Ben Duckett.

The opener scored 88 runs off 41 deliveries while remaining unbeaten, smashing 13 fours and three sixes. In this format, he achieved his highest score to date.

With the victory, England evened the series at three. The decisive match will be played between both sides on Sunday in Lahore.
